Summer Olympic Prep ~ Rugby
So I have decided to discover a little more about some of the sports you will find at the Summer Olympics. I am tracking down people with the “know how” and learning basic skills, and trying my hand.. and foot at them!
Considering I look like a deranged cabbage patch kid in the process, this is truly about curiosity and enthusiasm.. along with some good old fashioned Olympic spirit!
First up is Rugby! CLICK HERE FOR MORE OLYMPIC HISTORY
My trainer at The Athlete Factory, Michele Helmeczi also happens to be a Rugby player with the Calgary Hornets.. she gather together a couple friends (Shannon and Lizzie) who also play, and out to a field (pitch?) we went.
I have always been confused about this game as you throw backwards and kick forward.. and everyone always seems to be jumping on each other.
I learned a few skills.. but the one that made me think that I may explore the possibility of a rec league was tackeling! That was fun!
Check it out!!
Here is the on air interview with Michele…
and just for fun.. what happened when I tested out my new skills at work:
Congratulations on your summer training plan… a little work left still! Let me know if I need to send some “real” Olympians your way.
If you have any suggestions for what I should do and with whom I am all ears!! 🙂
Susan .. that was great! Loved it! xoxo Andrea
Thanks! I thought of you guys while doing it!
